During his working period at the CSIR Institute, the author, a PhD in Chemistry from the Calcutta University, published two reference books on his specialization, Mine Fires, published by AA Balkema, the Netherlands, and Oxford IBH Pub. Co. India, simultaneously. He had around 5o research papers published in various national and international journals of repute and also 2 patents on his specialization.
In this book he has highlighted seven exceptional traits of Swamiji - as rationalist, artist, scientist, teacher, thinker, patriot and institution-builder. The articles analyse Swamiji on these aspects and give a glimpse of the towering personality of Swami Vivekananda - the Voice of Sri Ramakrishna, the very thought of whose name elevates the inner divinity ingrained within every being.
I wish this book would invoke more interest in Swamiji's thoughts and life and be beneficent to the society and humanity.
His friends and admirers included not only the then liberal religious leaders of different religions, but also agnostics and the 19th century luminaries in different walks of life. They were scholars of different Universities globally, eminent scientists and technologists of that period, established artists and stalwarts in the, musical field, business tycoons, senior administrators, political leaders, besides innumerable people in different countries whosoever came in close contact with him. Many followed him and became his disciples with lifelong commitment to serve his life's mission.
