Volume XLII of Epigraphia Indica was published in 1992. After lapse of nearly 19 years, the first part of Epigraphia Indica Vol. XLIII is brought out in 2011. It is one of the Epigraphical publications to be released on the occasion of celebration of the 150th year of Archaeological Survey of India. Part II for which the material is ready will be brought out early in 2012. Part I contains articles by eminent epigraphists including late Prof. Ajay Mitra Sghastri and late Dr. S. Subramonia Iyer.
I record here my grateful thanks to my colleague Dr. M.D. Sampath, former Director (Epigraphy) who was good enough to spare some articles available with him. He has also helped me otherwise in going through the proofs and was graceful enough to agree to be named as Associate Editor of this volume.
Dr. T.S. Ravishankar, Director (Epigraphy) I/c has also work on this volume besides and Srri G. Srinivasa Rao, Photographer, but for whose unstinted cooperation and commitment, this volume would not have been ready. Particular mention should be made of the exertions of Indica has also taken considerable pains to see that the facsimiles are got readied for whichever articles they were available.
The publication of this volume has been made possible by the constant support and encouragement extended by Dr. Gautan Sengupta, Director General, Archaeological Survey of Mani, Additional Director General, who has been a pillar of strength for the Epigraphy Branches in al their academic activates and pursuits.
I am beholden to Sri Hoshiar Singh, Production Officer, Archaeological Survey of India for his interest in bringing out this volume at an early date.
