This book 'Enchanting World of Forests' contains many interesting and noteworthy incidences what I have experienced during my carrier in the Tamil Nadu Forest Department from 1976 to 2011. I am fortunate to work in many undisturbed forests of the Western Ghats which act as the habitats of certain rare and endangered species of wildlife in India. Since I have developed a deep affinity and affection towards the flora and fauna of the forests from the day one of my training in the erstwhile Southern Forest Rangers College (SFRC) at Coimbatore, the very same love towards nature is being continued till date.
Wherever I happened to serve, I cultivated the habit of observing the plant species and the animal species, right from the identification and learning their habits and characters. In turn this has helped me to gain a thorough knowledge and with that deep technical knowledge, I was able to manage the forest divisions by sharing my knowledge not only with the forest department officials but also with other scientists, educationists, students, media persons, etc. It is because of this strength, till date I am able to write articles in newspapers and magazines, especially in Down to Earth Website. So far, I have published sixty articles on various topics like Forests, Wildlife & Biodiversity, Environment, Water, Pollution, Agriculture, E-Waste, Mining, Climate change, etc. Of course, I got the opportunity of writing a book titled 'Green Pearls of India' by Rupa Publishers, New Delhi only through this acquaintance and the same shall be published shortly.
