For centuries travelers and poets have written about India. Her endless variety and mysterious fascinations. But such is the magic of this country, such her vibrant colours and richness of heritage, that words alone do not do her justice. In ENCHANTING INDIA photographer Rupinder Khullar has captured some of this essence through a series of images that are stunning, powerful and deeply moving.
Through 19 photo-essays dealing with a wide range of themes, from Hinduism to the Himalayas, from cities such as Kolkata and Mumbai to the splendours of wildlife, from the architectural tradition to the romantic palaces of Rajasthan, from the artistic expression of crafts to the natural beauties of the coasts, he conjures up image that both astonish and delight the spirit of India caught in the camera's eye.
About the Author
Born and brought up in Dehradun, Rupinder Khullar has been shooting pictures since he was a child. Enthusiastically accompanying his father, a hobbyist photographer, to the Garhwal Himalayas. A prominent travel photographer for more than three decades, Rupinder has done a variety of pictorial books on India, its cities, monuments architecture, art and religion. Among them the 501 images of Taj Mahal, India land of Celebration, India; the land of the Buddha, One day at the Golden Temple and Delhi, Agra and Jaipur have been widely appreciated.
His wife Reeta has been actively involved in all his books, besides authoring a few of them. She has contributed articles and photo features on travel to various publications. She holds a masters Degree in English Literature from the Delhi University and a Diploma in Journalism from the Indian Institute of Mass Communication.
