This booklet is the one in a series of monographs containing the selected pearls of Swami Chidananda's wealth of wisdom. It is a verbal tableau of Swamiji's compiled and summarized thoughts on ego which he has expressed on different occasions at different times. Swamiji calls the ego our 'sworn enemy'. It has been shadowing us in every walk of life day and night. Readers will find in this booklet a thought-provoking description of how this enemy is responsible for our spiritual downfall and for polluting the social milieu of the world. At the same time they are also guided through the methods of the annihilation of the ego which clear the fog on the path leading to God.
The selection of Swamiji's thoughts in this booklet is ours and is by no means exhaustive. It is hoped that after reading this booklet, and also others in this series, the readers will be inspired to go through the complete works of Swamiji. This will be tantamount to real Satsanga (holy company of) with Swamiji.
At the end of this booklet is given a list of selected books by Swamiji. Some of them are the sources of the excerpts contained in this booklet. Each excerpt or a group of excerpts ends with an Arabic numeral in brackets.
