In this book, Dr Mohite has traced the architectural history of Mahakuta group has of temples. These temples form a very important segment of Early Chalukyan art and architecture. Early Chalukyan art and The erstwhile Chalukyas were great rulers of Deccan with Badami as their capital. Inspired by the lad resurgence of the Vedic culture, the Chalukyas of Badami undertook the excavations of cave temples as well as construction of structural temples. Aihole, Badami, Pattadakal (World Heritage Site) and Mahakuta were their main centres of construction of activity.
Dr. Meena Mohite, M.A. Ph.d, Diloma in Epigraphy is at present working as Associate Professor and Head of the Department of History & Archaeology in Bhaurao Kakatkar College, Belgaum Karnataka.
