Book Description
Introduction
Almost all bhaktas have heard the name of Shri Bijoykrishna Goswamiji. There have been very few publications of his life and sermons in Hindi, English and other languages. Shri Bijoykrishna Bhakta Sangha has been organizing naam sankeertan in various places for its propagation. On noticing the intense wishes of bhaktas wanting to know about Shri Bijoykrishna Goswamiji, the book 'Sadhana Path' was published at first.

A brief life sketch of Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and Shri Goswamiji was published. The way in which, lives of so many people that have been transformed into divine ones is an example in the spiritual world. Some among them became absorbed in tapasya, some gave deeksha on Sad guru’s direct orders and others dedicated their entire life to building up the characters of students and in serving the country. In order to introduce these great disciples, "Shri Shri Bijoykrishna Parijan" was published in Bengali. Though the book was not publicized widely, yet two editions of this book were published within a short time. Gradually five volumes of this book were published.

These books were written by Dr. Durgeshchandra, who was a professor of Bengali in the Vishwabharati University of Shantiniketan. Everyone was surprised by the way he went on writing volume after volume in spite of his old age and indifferent health. He left his mortal frame just three days after he handed over the manuscripts of the last volume [vol; 5]. It thus seemed that Sad guru Shri Bijoykrishna Goswamiji had given him very special strength to complete this great task.

A brief introduction of Shri Bijoykrishna Goswamiji is given at the beginning of this book. Years of incidents that were mentioned according to the Bengali calendar has been replaced by corresponding English dates and years.

Hope this book will be a great help to people who want to know about Sad guru and his sadhana.

Preface
Dr. Durgeshchandra Bandopadhyay is a person of great respect for me. He has been a professor of Vishwabharati for a period as long as thirty years. Being a professor of Bengali I have known him for a very long time, and have gradually become intimate. His personality reflects a golden combination of a soft, humble and sweet nature with high academic attainment. Having come in contact with such a personality I too have been charmed like others.

The specialty of his nature was to always keep himself concealed. A self absorbed learned tapaswi is rare in today's world. He kept himself engaged in the pursuit of knowledge and research. He did not let his talent and mental faculties to be dulled even by a small degree and proof of this can be found in 'Shree Shree Bijoykrishna Parijan'. I trust that whoever reads this book will concur with this view.

This book is not about the life of Bijoykrishna Goswamiji. This contains the life of some of his disciples like Bipinchandra Pal, Ashwini Kumar Dutta, and others. But the book is not just the life stories of these special personalities individually. It has reflected the distinctive characteristics of Bijoykrishna's supernatural sadhana through the stories of their spiritual lives.

One feels while reading the book that it has been written by a bhakta; but nowhere have the life stories been made hazy or unclear with the steam of emotion. The writer's conception and adherence to facts have given a strong formation of the protagonist’s personalities. A true combination of the two entities of the writer - bhakta' and' jnana ' has taken place in this book.

I conclude after saying one more thing. 'Shri Shri Bijoykrishna Parijan ' is not just the history of the spiritual practice or dharmasadhana of particular individuals. I hope the readers will acknowledge its value as a social document of contemporary Bengal. The writer has never forgotten the truth that the celebrated disciples of Shri Bijoykrishna, had unique roles to play in the background of Bengal's social, national and mental thought process. I convey my heartfelt gratitude to Srijukta Bandopadhaya for requesting me to write the preface of this book. I pray at last, that this book be cordially accepted by the kind readers.

Foreword
The Upanishads say that we are all the children of Amrita, the immortals. We have all the virtues, power and goodness hidden within ourselves which we do not know about. Being totally absorbed in worldly wants and desires, we keep pursuing them for their fulfillment and we die with desires remaining with us, thus continuing with the unending cycle of birth and death. We are never free from fetters.

The advent of Sad guru takes place to liberate people permanently from the cycle of birth and death, to free them from worldly suffering. People steeped in sinful acts are lifted out of their environment, cleansed and then put onto the path of salvation. Sinners develop saintly nature.

Everyone has hope. In whatever condition, wherever one maybe, hope is not lost.

Even if very wicked person worships Me He soon becomes a righteous person and attains eternal peace....My devotee never perishes.

Gita Sad guru’s sadhan is one which leads one to the sphere of eternal peace. Improbable and seemingly impossible things happen to the seeker by Sad guru’s grace, lotus blossoms in the mud, roses bloom on the ugly thorny branch of a plant.

The beautiful God who makes such beautiful flowers by in June being inside the ugly plants, while also remaining within the ugly self of the sinner, transforms his soul into a beautiful one. Sinners Sadhan'. should not be afraid. Someday their unclean heart will certainly is power become beautiful.

I do not have such power that I can remain immersed in sin alone. The way the sun attracts the lotus all the time for it to blossom, in the same way the kind hearted Lord attracts all men and women of the earth. As long as we stay immersed in sin we do not understand. But once we are able to penetrate through the veil of sin, we no longer can stay contented. Following his grace our soul then moves only towards him.

From: (Lectures and sermons of Sad guru Shri Bijou Krishna Goswami)

Goswamiji's disciples consisted of unimaginable varieties of people. There were wicked, ill-mannered, oppressive ones as there were educated, pious and obedient ones. He gave shelter to all. We may quote from his disciple Kuladananda Brahmachari's diary :-"< p> How could we have realized the signs of his absolute grace and greatness had we taken shelter under him while being pious, calm, spotless and controlled from before hand? How could then his savior-of-the-wretched state be fully manifested? The significance of forgiveness cannot be fully appreciated unless the high degree of torture is felt on the other side. While there is high degree of torture and insubordination felt on one side, there is also corresponding patience and tolerance on the other side."

Readers will find the corroborating evidence of the presentation made here. Just as the caterpillar metamorphoses into a butterfly by God's will, all of us too have hope. Goswamiji, had in fact, innumerable disciples, profiles of many of them could not be recorded. Many siddha sanyasis and fakirs had received deeksha from him. The first part of this book contains the biography of 31 of his disciples and the second part is going to have that of 44.

This book was originally written in Bengali by Shri Durgesh Chadra Bandyopadhyay and later its Hindi version was published from our ashram. Now finding a need for its English edition because of demand from a wider section of people we had entrusted Shri Debkumar Bhattacharya and his wife Tapati with the task. We appreciate their sincerity and hard work in accomplishing the task. We hope this book will be of good use to those seeking to enhance their spiritual progress. We pray to Gosaiji for the welfare of all.
