The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda (MSUB) has demonstrated a Commitment towards academic excellence since its inception in the year 1949. The university has been recognized as one of the premier institutions of higher learning and research in India and abroad. It has a number of illustrious personalities as alumni, faculty and research scholars. I am delighted to write the Foreword for the second edition of 'Diksha' - a collection of inspiring convocation addresses delivered at the annual convocations of the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda from 1951 to 2019. The first volume of 'Diksha', published in January, 2018, was a compilation of highly inspiring and thought provoking speeches, and has been well received. Now, two years later, the university has decided to release second volume of Diksha, an updated edition of compilation of convocation addresses, at the 68th annual convocation. The second edition of Diksha is of great educational and institutional value. It is compilation of 47 convocation addresses delivered by eminent personalities, including Heads of State, Ministers, awardees of civilian honours like Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, Padma Shri and various others. I hope that release of second edition of Diksha shall be widely read not just by the academic fraternity but also by various other enlightened citizens who would be certainly benefited from the pearls of wisdom sparking on every page of the book.I take this opportunity to congratulate Prof. Parimal H. Vyas, Vice-Chancellor of the M. S. University of Baroda and his entire team for bringing out the 2 edition of 'Diksha'.
