The late Vedasastrasampanna Pandita Jagannath Shridhar Pade was a versatile and profound indological scholar of great international repute. He wrote an independent treatise in Sanskrit entitled "Dharme Sarvam Pratisthitam which was serially publi shed in twentynine different articles in the monthly Sanskrit magazine namely, the "Sarvodaya" of Varanasi. These articles were warmly received and highly appreciated by the scholarly world. These articles incorporated not only the cream of all the different Vedic and Shastric lores, culminating into the main theme of all-sustaining principle of Dharma, but also reflected the attitude of (samanvaya) of them. Though based upon our tradi tional treatises, it represents a novel contribution to our understanding of the concept of Dharma and Vedic culture.
In the present book, we, there fore, wish to present all these Sanskrit articles in the form of a book, which can give a more coherent understanding of his thesis on Dharma and which will be more convenient also as one can get all articles at one place. We have also presented the biography of scholar and his contribution and at the end, some useful appendices containing his scholarly articles in different languages are given, which would also be useful and enlightening.
The Late Vedasástrasampanna Pt. Jagannath Shridhar Padeshastri was not only a versatile, profound eminent scholar of international repute but was also a pious devotee and an ardent seeker of truth. He retired as Research Officer in the Oriental Institute. During his lifetime, he not only made research on diverse aspects of Indology but also guided numerous scholars for their doctoral and post-doctoral research. He was a recipient of the S.R. Bhandarkar Prize for grammar at M.A. He was also honoured by the Govt. of Gujarat for his proficiency in Sastras.
His nephews Shri P. H. Joshi (Research Officer, Oriental Institute, M. S. University of Baroda) and Prof. Dr. M. L. Wadekar (General Editor/ Professor, Critical Editions Wing, Oriental Institute) both Editors of his book have compiled his articles in this book for the benefit of the scholarly world.
