The book contains 21 research articles which highlight and analysed crucial contemporary issues of Mizoram.

The contributors are eminent personalities belonging to teaching profession from Mizoram University, Colleges and research scholars. Since the contributors belongs to diverse academic subject, the significance of the book lies with the detailed analysis of relevant issues in a multi- disciplinary approach. The content of the book will benefit all its readers.

R. LALTHANKHUMI is Assistant Professor in the department of Education, Government Aizawl College. She had more than 12 years of teaching experience In 2008, she was awarded Ph.d from Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. Her title of Ph.d is "A study of the attitude of parents, teachers and society towards adjustment and academic achievement of Mentally Retarded Adolescents in Mizoram" She had published a number of research papers in the form of journals and proceedings of seminar / conference.

LALMALSAWMA KHIANGTE IS Assistant Professor in the department of Political Science, Govt Zawinuam College with more than 12 years of teaching experience. He has published edited book titled Human Security in North East India. He had also contributed a number of papers in books and journals. Currently, he is pursuing Ph.d in the department of Political Science, Mizoram University.

DAVID ROSANGLIANA IS Assistant Professor and Head in the department of Mathematics, Government Serchhip College. He had more than 10 years of teaching experience He is currently pursuing Ph.d in the department of Mathematics & Computer Science, Mizoram University.

The general trend amongst teachers of various colleges in Mizoram is that the teachers are keener on teaching activities rather than research work. Thus, research activity was not given emphasize by college teachers. What appears is that since many teachers do not attend much of research training, seminar or conference, there is very little research output which is a big concern in higher education especially in the college. So there is tremendous need amongst the teachers to motivate and encourage each other to focus on research work in addition to their normal teaching work. This is one reason why this publication is prepared in order to bring awareness to do more of research work.

The publication discussed contemporary topics and the contents were of subjects having present day importance both for students and teachers. In this regard, doing research work on one single subject is a good thing; in fact it may be more beneficial if multidisciplinary subjects can be a matter of research work thereby widening the horizon and perspective of the researchers in their work. Moreover the academic community need to understand and realized the important role played by research paper in bridging the gaps that existed amongst different subjects of studies. Research work can be a platform/forum whereby all subjects can come under one umbrella so that students and teachers will understand better the relationship and interdependence of different streams through research work.

This book has twenty papers. Very important and interesting topics are published which will surely benefit all its readers. These 20 papers have 23 contributors from 10 different subjects in 13 higher educational institutions of Mizoram. The contributors had made great effort to bring out quality papers. It is hoped that these papers will pave the way for other teachers to emulate these contributors who has taken a step ahead in the field of research work. The editors thank paper contributors for their hard work and co-operation.
