Book Description
Foreword
We were all extremely happy when Shri VK Krishna Prasad approached us seeking support and input in publishing this volume of 14 krithis of Shri. GNB. There are currently 3 volumes of Shri GNB's compositions released and all of them are in Tamil with notation and this will be the first volume in English with Staff Notation. We are all neither a musician nor a musicologist, but we are all fortunate enough to be the sibling and children of this great musician & composer Shri GNB.

Shri GNB's compositions have been filled with the musical nuances and remind us of Shri GNB's own elaboration of these ragas and exposition of various krithis in these ragas. These compositions are products of 1) his artistry and imagination 2) with melodic rapport between raga and the words and 3) similarities with various composers right from the trinity to a later popular composer such as Papanasam Sivan.

Shri VK Krishna Prasad has handpicked 14 of the compositions in variety of ragas which include popular ragas, a rare raga and a raga created by Shri GNB viz Amritabehag. Shri Prasad has to his credit 14 other volumes with krithis of various composers & we particularly appreciate Shri Parsad's initiative in publishing this volume as this will be helpful to many learners who are not able to read in tamil and gives an opportunity for the people pursuing western music to try out carnatic music. This is the volume 1 of a series of compositions of Shri GNB and more will follow soon.

With the blessings of Sri Rajarajeswari, we wish Shri Prasad & CBH Publications all the very best in all their endeavours.
