Chanakya, who lived in the 4th and 3rd Century B.C in Pataliputra of the Magadha Kingdom (Present-day Bihar), was the most famous social and political philosopher of ancient India. A scholar of the then world-famous Takshashila University, Chanakya helped King Chanraguprta Maurya ascend the throne and was also his Chief Advisor. The Mauryan Empire flourished during the Chandragupta - Chanakya period.
