The book deals with religious conditions during the period of Chalukyas of Kalyana. The major religions have been studied under the various headings so as to provide the necessary background. The geographical and chronological distributional pattern of the temples the royal patronage, the various rites and rituals performed, vivid forms of the Gods under worship, etc. are dealt with reference. The religious centres and teachers and the main features of the religions etc. have been dealt. All the available published sources are utilized to give as complete a picture as possible of the period. Photographs are produced wherever necessary. The survey is closed with the down fall of the Chalukyas of Kalyana.
V.R. Hiremath, Dy. Librarian, University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad, Karnataka State. Born on 18th March, 1956, he obtained M.L.I.Sc., Ist Rank with gold medal and M.Phil. with Ist Rank in Library and Information Science from Gulbarga University, Gulbarga. He obtained Master’s degree and Ph.D. in Ancient Indian History and Epigraphy from Karnataka University, Dharwad. He has about 30 years of experience in University Library. He has served for College of Education, Harapanahalli, Karnataka University, Dharwad, Gulbarga University, Gulbarga. Currently he is Dy. Librarian in University of Agricultural Sciences, Krishinagar, Dharwad. He has several publications to his credit.
