It indeed gives me great pleasure to reprint the general catalogue of the Urdu, Arabic and Persian Manuscripts Volume-1 prepared by Sri Tassaduq Hussain, then Director of Asafia Library and to present them to the research scholars from India & Abroad.
We have rich collection of above 17 thousand manuscripts of Urdu, Arabic and Persian languages in our institute. This general catalogue is prepared according to subject and language wise in alphabetical order of the manuscripts as well as printed books. Only manuscripts are available in this library as they alone were shifted to this library from Asafia Library. Out of 47 subjects 17 subjects covered in this catalogue volume-1 and remaining 30 subjects would cover in 2nd, 3rd and 4th volumes of catalogues.
We hope the research community will derive benefit from this volume-1. I convey my thanks to Dr. Rafath Rizwana, Research Officer and Mrs. Tanveer Fatima, Research Assistant of Urdu, Arabic and Persian Wing for bringing out this publication.
This general catalogue is prepared by Sri Tassaduq Hussain according to subject & Language wise in Alphabetical order of the Manuscripts as well as printed books. Only manuscripts are available in this Library as they alone were shifted from the Asafia library to this Andhra Pradesh Government Oriental Manuscripts Library and Research Institute. All the manuscripts are divided as per subject wise as well as language wise in the order of Arabic, Persian and Urdu languages. The priority is given to the Holy Quran. 17 subjects are mentioned in the alphabetical order i.e.

This catalogue was prepared by Sri Tassaduq Hussain during the period of 1332 Hijri 1911 AD. The descriptive catalogues of rare Urdu, Arabic and Persian manuscripts prepared by Sri Tassaduq Hussain in 2 volumes were also reprinted by this institute. The descriptive catalogues of Urdu manuscripts prepared by Sri Nasiruddin Hushmi in 2 volumes were also reprinted by this institute. They are also available for the readers. The 2 volumes of the Descriptive Catalogue of Urdu Poetry Manuscripts prepared by Dr. Rafath Rizwana are also available in our institute.
