S V Ramani was brought up in Madras and completed her masters in Home Science with a speciality in Food and Nutrition in 1972. She completed a bakery course in Bangalore Agriculture University in 1977. She is happily married to Wg Cdr S A Ramaiah (Retd) and is a proud mother of two daughters, now settled in the US. She worked as a teacher and took several nutrition classes in J D Birla College, Kolkata, for two years.
