A good idea of the Book is obtained by reading the authors preface. The book caters to the needs of a large number of readers of different age groups, educational status and mental maturity. Presently world has nearly 7.9 billion people belonging to several ideologies and Islam is the second largest religion making up nearly 25 % of the world’s population. Hence it makes sense to know something of their Holy text and its values of universal applicability. Book paves way for writing some more worthwhile books and aims to promote understanding and harmony among all the people of the globe irrespective of their theistic or atheistic disposition without indulging in any blasphemy. Author has only noble intentions.
Professor A. S. Rao, professionally is a Biochemist and served Haryana Agricultural University and Bharathidasan University. Before retiring, held many important positions in Bharathidasan University. Has nearly three decades of academic experience with about 75 papers in different areas in International and National Journals. Had interaction both in academics and other pertinent matters with students from different academic and social backgrounds. Further had interactions with students and people from different countries Viz; Switzerland, U.K, France, Germany, Netherlands, and Singapore. Education and Science & Technology are two vital inputs for the development of the society. Similarly, the country and the world being highly heterogeneous, mutual understanding is a prerequisite for harmonious existence. That the author is a responsible academician and citizen is clearly reflected in two of his earlier books,” Thoughts on Higher Education” and “An Introduction to the Regulation of Primary Metabolic Pathways” and the present book.
This book is a valuable addition to the list of books on comparative philosophy, religion, social practices and culture. I admire the author Dr A. S. Rao for bringing together so many important details without any offense or bias and with the noble intention of promoting mutual understanding among people across the country and the globe. As I myself have been actively involved for decades in promoting values and harmony I can really feel the strength of the book.
I have therefore no hesitation in acknowledging the utility of the book by Dr Rao to a wide range of readers as mentioned in the apt title of the book. I feel that the book is a 'good read' for all.
An earnest plea to the readers. Initially I thought I would just confine myself to the first part of the title of the book- and accordingly keep the title too-, but I got some other thoughts flowing into and disturbing my mind. I thought if I just confine myself to some prescriptions in Quraan, the readers both within the country and across the world are very likely to get an impression that I am too naive about so many things and did not take any pains to know and write keeping several others viewpoints in mind. This feeling was very heavy on my mind. Hence, I had to include several other aspects/points. Some of the points mentioned pave the way for writing some more books by research oriented academicians.
