Education and Culture have always been central to our agenda for the state of Bihar. They are celebrated as the soft power that brings about lasting empowerment, enriching the lives of its people, their future, furthered only by the collective future of the nation. I had conceived the Bihar Museum as an international art and culture institution which would be the epicentre in the cultural, historic, artistic and creative discourse of the region; fanning a spirit of enquiry, exploration and engagement with the arts and cultures. It has been given the lofty mission to carry forward the edifying baton for India.
Since its opening, the Bihar Museum has seen a regular footfall of thousands of visitors on a daily basis. This is an encouraging indicator and speaks volumes of the notable position of the Bihar Museum as an institution that is meeting the curiosity that already exists in the hearts and minds of the people of India. The museum provides them with the chance to learn more about their culture and their roots, to revel in the pride and progress of the state, and to also take it as a point of departure, determining the future of Bihar and, in doing so, the future of India.
