About the Authors
Dr. Bilal Ahmad Wani has born on 7th January 1981 at Rangwar, District Baramulla J & K. He has born to noble parents Haji Ghularn Qadir Wani and Hafiza Begum. He has completed his primary and secondary education from District Baramulla, graduated in B.A.M.S. from JIAR, Jammu and presently pursuing Post-graduation in Roga Nidana evam Vikriti Vigyana (Ayurvedic Clinical Medicine & Pathology) from National Institute of Ayurveda, Jaipur Rajasthan. He has also done 6 months training in Panchakarma and Massage therapy from Vedamruta Health Education Trust & Research Centre, Thane Maharashtra in 2007 and a certificate course in Panchakarma from RA Podar Ayurvedic Medical College, Mumbai in March 2012 and has also attended many CME programs throughout the India. He is serving as Medical Officer Ayurveda, Department of ISM Govt. of Jammu & Kashmir for last six and half years.

Dr. Shaheen Ahmad Mir born at Mirbazar in the Anantnag District of Jammu and Kashmir had his early schooling from Anantnag. He has done his BAMS from Dr BRKR Govt. Ayurveda College Hyderabad presently in Telangana State. He has been appointed as Medical Officer by the Govt. of Jammu and Kashmir and has so far rendered more than 15 years service in the Department. He has done ROTP training in Panchakarma from National Research institute for Panchakarma Cheruthuruthy District Trissur Kerala in the year 2006 and subsequently certificate course in Panchakarma from RA Podar Ayurveda Medical College Mumbai in 2012. He has also attended many CME programs within and outside the state. He is presently pursuing his Post Graduation in Shalya Tantra (Surgery) from NIA Jaipur Rajasthan.

Foreword
Ayurveda has a long history and its holistic approach has been a boon for the entire mankind for the treatment of various ailments through safe and effective herb-mineral Ayurvedic drugs and various modalities practiced since many centuries. There has been a lot of advancement in the Research and Development sector in the field of Medical Science .In order to re-validate Ayurveda and to keep a pace with the modern drug research and development, a systematic, continuous and a comprehensive research in Ayurveda is the need of the hour. For re-validating Ayurveda, we need to be well acquainted with the Scientific Research Methodology and Statistical tools so as to achieve the goal of evidence based Ayurveda at global level and in this regard we need to instigate interest among the scholars of Ayurveda for learning the Research Methodology and Statistical Methods in real sense. We need to develop scientific temperament among the scholars of Ayurveda so that this system of Medicine is revalidated for its acceptance at global level in order to provide a safe, effective and alternate treatment modalities for each and every sick.

I appreciate the efforts of P.G. Scholars of NIA Jaipur namely Dr. Bilal Ahmad Wani and Dr. Shaheen Ahmad Mir for writing a book on the "Basics of Research Methodology and Medical Statistics" for Ayurveda Scholars in accordance with the syllabus as prescribed by CCIM and hope that this book will prove very beneficial for the scholars of Ayurveda and will incite interest among them regarding this subject which forms a back bone for Research and development.

Preface
This book has been compiled as per the CCIM's Syllabus of "Research Methodology and Statistics" for Ayurvedic post-graduate research scholars. This book contains the basic concepts about the Research Methodology and Medical Statistics applicable to re-search in Ayurveda.

Ayurveda is a science of life and a holistic system of Medicine. In the present era revalidation of Ayurvedic concepts is the prime need for its development and scientific Dep. validity. So need of the hour is to develop a proper Methodology for research in Ayurveda for and application of Statistics to put it on scientific platform.

This book is divided into two sections. The first section contain 15 Chapters of Paw Research Methodology and second section contains 15 Chapters of Medical Statistics in accordance with the syllabus as prescribed by CCIM for M.D. Pt year (Ayurveda) Scholars. dein This book is designed in such a way so as to enlighten both Ayurvedic and Modern concepts needed for research and development (R & D) in the field of Ayurveda.

At the end of this book, a few examination papers have been appended for the Pau convenience of the Pt year M.D. scholars.

We welcome all the suggestions/modifications/corrections and after all constructive criticism if any from the readers especially from teachers and scholars.
