This page was to have been enriched by the sparkling and valuable words written by the prolific pen of the author, K.K. Sinba, my husband. But he is no more to do the same as cruel death has silenced his pen for ever since 30th October, 1971, by a rude car accident near Kharagpur, West Bengal.
I have placed before the public the author's occasional writings within the same cover as those may be of interest to the readers. Although there are a large number of articles and books written on a common theme-Bangla Desh, yet I have thought it necessary and proper to bring out the valuable viewpoints of the author in a book for its utility and usefulness to the thoughtful readers. Some of these articles were published in journals and brochures and some sent to Conferences and Seminars to provide a basis for discussion. Had the author been alive, he would have exercised his sole right to make some additions and alterations. But I dare not to take the liberty of doing so due to sentiment or one can presume that I do not feel competent to take the initiative, specially when the author's opinion and voice in this regard was stilled for ever. The author used to write in many journals-Indian and foreign. Some of the writings in this book were published in RADICAL HUMANIST, SHAKTI, LAMP and may have been published in other journals which I was unable to traco from the records kept by the author. I wish to be excused for any error which I might be committing by not mentioning them here. However, it is due to my ignorance of the fact.
Some of the occasional writings of the late Sri K. K. Sinha are here posthumously collected and put within the same cover for being placed before the public. For the editor this is both an act of piety and of remembrance. To the reader they should be of interest as with one exception they all relate to a common theme-Bangla Desh. . Of the writing of books on Bangla Desh there is no end. It is a flourishing industry with hardly any slump in sight; and its products vary greatly in quality from instant histories cashing in on the emotional upsurge of a news-hungry public, to solidly researched accounts setting down in chronological detail the march of events from before the beginning of the crisis to the end of the three weeks' war which saw the emergence of a new national state. They vary also in respect of the periods they cover and in the selection and interpretation of events because of the point of view from which they are written. It is impossible to mention them all for their name is legion, but I mention a few as representative of the genre.
