Back Again and Again originally published in tamil as Maari Maarip Pinnum depicts the psychological conflict which the protagonist, Revu, undergoes. She is confronted with a bitter life beyond endurance arising not just from a cruel and unloving husband, but she soon finds herself in a more pathetic situation- what follows is one vicissitude after another in her life. Rajam krishnan’s characterization and her use of simple style in the novel makes this story seems real and life-like.
Rajam Krishnan began writing in 1952 and is today one of the most popular novelists of Tamilnadu. A self-taught child, she developed a love for reading fiction very early in life and was greatly influenced by English novelists like Charles Dickens and Jane Austen and Tamil Novelists like Madhaviah and Venkataramani. She is dedicated to describing different life experiences of man in its all manifestations. So far, she has authored more then 40 novels and several collections of short stories. In her fictions she tries to project women’s struggle in a male-dominated society. She is a recipient of the Sahitya Akademi Award.
R Balachandran is a well known poet, critic and translator. He has translated several modern and classical poetry and fiction from Tamil into English.
