The book 'A concise text book of Astanga Sathgraha Stitrasthana contains brief notes on all the 40 chapters of Shtrasthana. Important principles, concepts of Ayurveda explained by Vagbhata are dealt in a clear and concised way in this book. Effort is made to keep original Sanskrit/Ayurvedic technical terms as it is. Only translated or english terms which are very close to the meaning of the Ayurvedic words are kept in bracket for easy understanding by the initial phase of students. Students should remember Sanskrit Ayurvedic terms, because translated terms fails to convey complete Ayurvedic meaning, sometimes it may leads to misinterpretation. Eg : The statement "Done marrow tissue nurishes the semen" is translated from Ayurvedic terms. It is difficult to understand this statement, may also leads to confusion. If we use original terms as it is, then is more meaningful, i.e. Majj a dhatu does the Posana of Sukradhatu. Therefore while answering the questions, understanding the disease process, diagnosis and also in treatment, Ayurvedic medical terminologies are must. English words convey nearer meaning, not exact meaning of the text. This book is useful to BAMS students, those who are preparing for hive exams and to students of foreign nations.
