Book Description
Preface

Thirukkural (Kural for short) is a Tamil Classic written about 2000 years back by Thiruvalluvar, also called Valluvar. It has 3 parts which talk about Righteousness or Dharma, Wealth and Family Life or Love. It consists of 1330 verses spread across 133 chapters.

The second part of Kural consisting of 70 chapters starts with the first citizen of the country i.e., The King in olden days. It goes on to discuss about Ministers, their qualities, etc. There are chapters on Planning, Staffing, Communication, Delegation, etc.

What Thiruvalluvar said for Kings and Ministers of ancient times suits well to today's CEOs and Executives mutatis mutandis!

The verses are brief two liners with just 7 words. These are pearls of wisdom and can be called NI i.e., Native Intelligence. These can be fruitfully adapted to today's corporates for Enterprise Management.

Sample Kurals

Let us have a look at a few Kurals. Judge act and might and foeman's strength

The allies' strength and go at length. (Kural 471)

Kural says 'Let one weigh well the strength of the deed he intends to do, his own strength, the strength of his enemy, and the strength of the allies of both and then let him act. Are you reminded of SWOT Analysis?
