Rajeev Jhanji B.Com, Diploma in Printing Technology, Diploma (Hons.) in Systems Management, Jyotish Visharad Rajeev Jhanji is an eminent scholar and teacher of Vedic astrology. He has taught astrology for several years to hundreds of students in the Institute of Astrology of the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, New Delhi. By profession a computer expert, a printer and a publisher, he has a profound understanding of the astronomical/mathematical part of astrology of which he is an authority. His beautiful graphic depiction of the zodiac and its astrological elements, serialised in the pages of the bi-monthly Vedic Astrology of which he has been the Associate Editor, has earned him wide acclaim.
Rajeev is equally well versed in both the Parashari as well as the Jaimini systems of astrology which he employs simultaneously with great success. Research into the operation of the dasha systems is his area of specialisation and the present work, Applications of Yogini Dasha, has been a consequence of this interest of his. Incidentally, this happens to be the first authentic work on the method of application of the Yogini dasha. Rajeev has an uncanny insight into the subtle principles of mundane and electional astrology as well as natal horoscopy. His departure to USA in the year 1999 has been a loss to his Indian students.
NK Sharma B.Sc., B.Ed, Jyotish Visbarad NK Sharma was an honorary teacher at the Institute of Astrology of the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, New Delhi. With his scientific background, he had an impressive and lucid style of teaching which made him a highly sought-after teacher of astrology among his students. He had a keen interest in experimenting with the varied principles of astrology and testing them on actual horoscopic charts to determine their extent of authenticity and their limitations.
Sharma, like Rajeev, was a keen advocate of using multiple dasha schemes to a given horoscope. Had destiny not cut short his life, he would have contributed immensely to astrological knowledge. Born on April 27, 1967, he left us prematurely on May 3, 1999, an irreparable loss to his friends, colleagues and the astrological world.
Publication of the Applications of Yogini Dasha for the first time in the year 1994 introduced to the lover of Vedic astrology a long used and highly reliable dasha system which had gone into virtual oblivion except in some of the northern hilly states of India. This dasha system has been used by its proponents in addition to or as an effective alternative to the well-known Vimshottari dasha. This work was the result of a serious research by Rajeev Jhanji and N K Sharma who those days used to teach at the astrology school of the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan in New Delhi (India). The second edition of this book came in the year 1998 and was soon exhausted. After that the book remained un- available for nearly two decades though its demand never really waned. The main reason for the unavailability of this precious work was that one of the authors, Rajeev Jhanji, moved out of India to USA in the year 1999 while the other, N K Sharma, prematurely left this world for the heavenly abode. Relentless demand for this book both by the student as well as the savant of astrology prompted us to bring out the present edition of this valuable work.
This third edition of the Applications of Yogini Dasha has been completely revised and enlarged. A lot of additional astrological material has been added almost in every chapter. Some new example charts have been included in this edition while birth details of several important individuals discussed in this book have been provided for the benefit of the student. We hope that the reader would find this enlarged and enriched edition of one of the most reliable and accurate dasha systems of Parashara an invaluable tool for predictive brilliance.
