(4) Epigraphy. The discoveries of the new Asokan edict at Maski and the Chalukyan inscriptions at Kollipaka, the former by Mr. C. Beadon and the latter by Mr. T. Strinivas, Honorary Assistant to the Superintendent of Archeology, are matters of some moment. The Maski edict has been edited by Mr. H. K. Sastri and published by His Highness Government with Resolution No. 5-1 Misc., dated the 4th December, 1915, as No. 1 of the Hyderabad Archæological Series: the Kollipaka inscriptions are being edited by the discoverer. Seventy new inscriptious of Deccan Kings have been copied and will be published in the pages of the Epigraphia Indo-Moslemica, of which Mr. Yazdani has been appoin ted editor in succession to Dr. Horovitz.
(5) Numismatics. The Superintendent points out that it is desirable that he should be kept informed of finds of treasure trove in the Dominions and be given the option of acquiring the coins. This is a matter which has been settled since the Report was written and the Director General of Revenue, to whom, under the law, reports regarding treasure trove are submitted, has issued a circular (ride No. 186, dated 13th Farwardin, 1325 F.) instructing District Officers to bring all finds in the first place to the notice of the Superintendent of Archeology so that he may decide whether any of them are required for archaeological purposes. Government have also sanctioned the Superintendent's proposal to have the cabinets of the Mint and the Central Treasury transferred to the Archeological Department; they will form, it is hoped, the nucleus of a valuable collection of Deccan coins.
