My teacher Swami Kuvalayanandaji, inarguably a true Yogi Scientist, had initiated the Kaivalyadhama Movement through scientific research in Yoga, way back in 1924. Scientific Research Department and Philosophic-Literary Research Department are carrying forward, commendably, the great legacy of Swami ji, to this date. I have seen Swami ji's passion for scientific research.
"Nothing that has not been tested either clinically or in the laboratory will appear in the pages of this periodical (YM). What truths will be revealed by these researches nobody can predict."
--Swami Kuvalayananda (1924). Yoga Mimamsa, I (1)
As a scientist, he worked tirelessly to unearth the scientific bases for clinical benefits he evidenced in his therapeutic sessions with patients in Rugna Seva Mandir (Patient Service Centre), also established by him in 1924.
Today, both the research wings of Kaivalyadhama are living up to the aspirations of Swami ji, in terms of their praiseworthy contribution to fundamental and applied research endeavors in Yoga. Scientific Research Department has been credited with the prestigious status of a Collaborative Research Centre by the CCRYN. A munificent grant, for a research project by the Ministry of AYUSH, is yet another laurel this department has achieved recently!
Swami ji always thought of "Yoga for the men on the street." He started a research quarterly "Yoga Mimamsa" to educate the scientific community, as well as, the masses of the world, into all nuances of Yoga, beneficial for their life and living.
"Abstracts and Bibliography of Articles on Yoga (Part-III)" is in line with the spirit of serving humanity for which Swami ji toiled throughout his life. Editors, of this source book of research, are dedicated in carrying forward the message of Yoga for the world community. They are experts in their fields of interest and deserve appreciation for this significant contribution to the Yogic research literature. I am happy that a great need of such a source book of research has been met. I am sure this work would be warmly accepted and appreciated both by Yoga scientists and common men. My best wishes to the Editors for their continued contribution to the Yoga Movement of Kaivalyadhama which, truly, is the confluence of Science and Tradition!
Swami Kuvalayanandaji, the founder director of Kaivalyadhama Shriman Madhava Yoga Mandir Samiti, Lonavla, was the first to give Yoga a scientific outlook. Swamiji had a conviction that "Theory without Practice is lame and the Practice without Theory is blind." He established Scientific Research Dept. (S.R.D.), Philosophio-Literary Research Dept.(P.L.R.D.) along with starting a research quartely "Yoga Mimamsa." He also initiated Therapeutic Yoga through a Yogic Hospital and a Yoga college for propagating Yoga Education systematically.
Of late, scientific and philosophic-literary researches in Yoga have been receiving due acceptance and recognition in Health Care System. Yoga enjoys, now, a status of an adjuvant therapy in many a health disorder, thanks to its preventive, curative and palliative facets. Scientists of repute are now alluded to Fundamental and Therapeutic Research in Yoga, if a sizable research literature available in Yoga has any indication. The present book "ABSTRACTS AND BIBLIOGRAPHY OF ARTICLES ON YOGA (Part- III) is the collection of scientific, as well as, philosophico-literaty researches done in Kaivalyadhama during the period between April 1998 to March 2016. Most of the research literature, included in this book, has been published in Yoga Mimamsa, a peer-reviewed-online journal. Some of the research publications by Kaivalyadhama workers, contributed to other National and International peer reviewed Scientific Journals, have also been included.
