Yashpal Singh worked in a variety of genres, including essays, novels, and short stories, as well as a drama, two travel guides, and an autobiography. He was a socialist and a writer in the Hindi language. In 1976, he received the Padma Bhushan and the Hindi-language Sahitya Akademi Award for his book Meri Teri Uski Baat.
