Hema Minakshi, a resident of Chennai, has possessed a lifelong passion for art, drawing, painting, and craft since childhood. While she appreciates various styles of art, she has a profound affinity for Indian folk paintings. As a freelance artist from a young age, her artistic journey took an exciting turn during the COVID lockdown when she had the invaluable opportunity to learn from traditional native artists.
Under the guidance of these skilled artisans, Hema Minakshi has been honing her skills in various folk painting styles from different regions of India, spanning from the North to the South, East to West, and Central parts of the country. Her versatility extends to working on a wide range of surfaces, including paperboard, fabric, canvas, wood, and even walls. She employs both natural and synthetic colors in her creative process.
Hema believes that art has the power to transform both the artist and the observer. She considers herself a 'Rasika' first, implying her deep appreciation of art, and an artist next, highlighting her creative endeavors. In her view, there is beauty all around us, and it's essential to take a moment to savor it amidst our fast-paced lives.
