Back of the Book The skin is the outermost covering of body tissue which protects internal organs from the environment. It reflects internal changes and reacts to changes in the environment. Usually it adapts easily, and returns to a normal site. Sometimes it fails to do so and skin disorders appear.

Skincare is required to preserve/restore bodily beauty, hide certain flaws and make a presentable appearance. Affliction of this disease confines one to a place or rather restricts one's movements because of the embracing situation or circumstance they are in. Visarpa is one such disease that calls for immediate attention.

Preface Arya Vaidya Sala has been conducting annual ayurvedic seminars in connection with the Founder s Day Celebrations since 1964 and All India Essay Competitions since 1965. The proceedings of seminars and prize winning essays are being published regularly. They cover a wide range of topics and have become a veritable source of information to the students and researchers in the field of ayurveda. Visarpam - Concept and Approach was the topic for essay competition in 2006.
