Book Description

Preface:

The long cherished dream of presenting before our readers the papers of the first International Conference on Yoga and Research held at Kaivalyadhama in 1984, is about to be realised now with the publication of this series. The idea remained a dream for a long time which was nothing but a folly on our part and we sincerely apologize.

As the second International Conference on Yoga, Education and Research is rapidly approaching, we wish to present this treatise in the form of a series, as this was the simplest way to approach our readers and delegates. Due to time limitation, only a few selected papers appear as part-I with the remainder coming in part-II. This does not mean that those coming first are the best or vice-versa.

The articles have been brought forth with very little editing, so that it could remain undisturbed. Still, if there is a few typographical errors or mistakes in some other form, we hope the readers will bear with this at present. All comments and criticisms are sincerely solicited to ensure a more accurate second printing which is forthcoming in the not too distant future.

Last but not the least, we also present opening and closing speeches of Sarvashri Pageji, Swami Ranganathananda and Swami Digambarji. We are sure the thoughts expressed in the articles, conclusions drawn, will be opening new area for all of us.

The preface will not be complete unless I mention few facts about the devotion of the following people. The idea of the first Conference started with Miss Veronique who played key role in finalising the programme and bringing out these proceedings. Equally, Shri Lav Kumar Sharma, K.G. Sanyal, Shreekumaran have contributed for typing the articles. Mr. Didier and Sybille also helped us a lot. I cannot complete unless I say my thanks to all those who have directly or indirectly helped us in this work and to the delegates who contributed the papers.

Back of the Book:

"Yoga has a complete message for humanity.
It has a message for the human body.
It has a message for the human mind and it has also a message for the human soul." - Swami Kuvalayananda
