India has
an ancient history. The oldest civilization in the world. the Indus
civilization of India, is contemporary with the civilizations of Egypt,
Babylon, and China. This civilization was built about five thousand years ago.
Agriculture, industry, and commerce left traces of this era. Burnt brick
storeyed houses, well-developed sewage system, baths, barns, inscriptions of
the Indus civilization have been found there. Not only the Indus Civilization
but also many other civilizations have been discovered in various places in the
ancient history of India. Lothal, Chanhudaro, Mathura, Varanasi, Magadha,
Pataliputra, Mahasthangarh, Prag-Jyotishpur, Tamralipta are particularly
notable among them. Mahasthangarh is the capital of the ancient Pundradesh of
eastern India. The ruins of Mahasthangarh exist on the banks of the Karatoa
River near the city of Bogra in Bangladesh. The contribution of this
civilization in the history of India is significant. The book on 'Pundradesh
and Its History' discusses the history of this ancient civilization of Eastern
India and its socio-economic status according to the stream of sub-altern
history. Along with this, the current socio-economic position of ancient
Paundra caste is a significant chapter of this book.
